Electric Book works with content provided under the Creative Commons Attribution BY license to distribute streamlined versions of textbook review materials. Initial products include post-secondary textbooks published by the OpenStax team at CNX.org. 
These 'after-market' products are based on high-quality texts, and include a complete set of cross references connecting the Electric Booklet content with the original material.
Rather than simply producing YAPDF (Yet Another PDF) version of the original material, EBC re-formats the presentation to provide improved user experiences on mobile devices, adding features such as the ability to single-step through problem solutions, independently re-scale text and images, bookmark individual problems, and share content using social media.
The company considers Electric Booklets to be the ideal complementary product for the original material well suited for schools or tutoring companies to integrate with their programs, or individual students who find access to OpenStax content a cost-effective resource.
